Chelsea News Report: Pedro eyes shock transfer move, while captain can’t wait for UCL to start

According to the Italian media sources, Italian champions Juventus are lining up a January swoop for Chelsea winger Pedro.

The 30-year-old Spaniard is into his third season at Stamford Bridge and is considered an instrumental part of Antonio Conte’s plans. This has not stopped speculation regarding his future and, as per the Tuttosport, Juventus are keeping close tabs on the former Barcelona star.

It is believed that the Spain international is happy at the Premier League champions and the Blues are unlikely to want to enter negotiations in January.

Antonio Conte missed out on several key targets during the summer transfer window and is not likely to be happy with rumours surfacing about Pedro’s future.

The attacker has scored 21 goals and provided 16 assists in 86 appearances for the club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have failed with “double your money” move to bring Spurs star Toby Alderweireld at Stamford Bridge this summer and will consider signing the defender in January transfer window.

Antonio Conte’s side have enquired about the Belgium defender’s interest in leaving Tottenham. The player has three years left on a deal that covers a basic £49,000 per week.

However the 28-year-old was expected to double that amount at Stamford Bridge, it is suggested.

It is believed that talks between Alderweireld and the club over a new contract deal have improved poorly, but the centre-back still opted to remain at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, Chelsea captain Gary Cahill is looking forward to the start of Champions League campaign with the Blues more than any of this team-mates.

That is because it means the former Bolton defender can finally get back to playing for his club after a three-game suspension.

The 31-year-old Cahill was sent off after just 13 minutes of their opening Premier League match of the season, a 3-2 home loss to Burnley.

And the England international admits that playing for the Three Lions during the international break was all that kept him going as he missed matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Leicester.

Now, though, he has a home tie against Qarabag at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to look forward to.

During his interview, Cahill said: “It was nice to get back out there and play for England.

“I was just happy to play. Selfishly, it was great to get two 90 minutes under my belt.

“My reflection on the two games is that it’s job done. It’s difficult when you go to places like Malta and you’re expected to win the game comfortably. We could have had one or two in the first five minutes – we didn’t but in the end the result was convincing.”
