Three months after President Muhammadu Buhari was inaugurated, he is yet to send names of his Ministers to the Senate for confirmation.

In the meantime, while defending the delay in the submission of the list of ministerial nominees to the Senate by the President, his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, 

said: “

Business need not be grounded at MDAs because the Permanent Secretaries and other technocrats are in place to take decisions.

“It is the prerogative of the President to make the appointments. He will make them (appointments) at the fullness of time.”

Buhari had, before Adeshina spoke, attributed the delay in his appointment of Ministers to the late submission of his Transition Committee’s report to him, just as he said he was being careful in order not to make mistakes in appointing individuals especially to key positions such as in the finance and petroleum ministries.

To him , there was nothing wrong in delaying the appointment. “I don’t know why people are so anxious about Ministers. But eventually we will have (them),”the President said.

He also blamed the immediate past Jonathan government for not cooperating with his Transition Committee.

Sunday Vanguard x- rays the activities of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, presently operating with Permanent Secretaries and what Nigerians are saying with the non- appointment of Ministers by the President.

The country may not have missed much with the delay, but different reactions have trailed the bidding of time by the President to avoid making mistakes of the past, while the MDAs applauded the absence of Ministers as a measure by Buhari to carry out a thorough study of the country’s problems before he appoints Ministers.

While some people claimed that the delay in filling the important government positions has not, in any way, affected the smooth running of government agencies, others disagreed, saying activities have been brought to a stand still.

Investigations, however, revealed that the day-to-day operations of the MDAs have not been hindered except when it comes to approval for big projects.

At the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Chukwu, is in charge, giving orders, taking decisions, but the busy nature of the office of the Minister at Area 11 has been absent; no patronage by politicians, business men and women, religious leaders, contractors, administrators, among others.

The staff were not as busy as they used to be when the Minister was around and the blocks where both the Minister and the Minister of State occupy were deserted.

Only recently, the FCTA Permanent Secretary vowed to arrest, prosecute and send to prison Bureau de Change operators in and around Wuse Zone 4 in the Federal Capital City, FCC, if they failed to stop hawking foreign currencies.

Giving the warning during an emergency inspection tour of areas used by the Association of Bureau de Change of Nigeria (ABCON) and black market operators, under the aegis of Zone Four Traders Association, Chukwu stressed that the FCC has been well planned and designed with a Master Plan and that the laws of the land must be respected to make Abuja clean and safe.

Also in compliance with the directive of the Federal Government on the dissolution of the boards, agencies, institutions and government owned companies, the Permanent Secretary announced the dissolution of all boards of the FCT parastatals and agencies.

He also disclosed that the Special Task Team on City Management had impounded 56 bags of assorted hard drugs as part of government’s plan to fight criminal activities in the FCC.

The Permanent Secretary, who revealed that the Task Team discovered the hard drugs at a depot during its covert operation at Tura-Bura, behind Apo Roundabout, said, “The FCT administration is gladdened by the proactive activity of the Task Team for this major discovery which would go a long way in reducing crime in all its ramifications in Abuja and environs.

“These 56 bags of cannabis and sundry hard drugs seized by the FCT Task Team will surely have positive multiplier effects on the fight against criminal activities in Abuja because most crimes are committed under the influence of hard drugs”.

A government official, who spoke with Sunday Vanguard anonymously, noted that the country was moving slowly without Ministers, said, “The country can ill-afford further delay by the President to make these vital appointments.” The official, a Permanent Secretary, said: “From The Presidency to the MDAs, everything has come to virtual standstill”.

Another Permanent Secretary said, “Ministers are necessary but not essential. They are not essential for the proper functioning of government, but they are necessary for the political identity of the governing party.”

The official admitted that there are limitations to Perm Secs’ capacities to approve policy issues, particularly those bordering on big projects which, he argued, can endure a little while.

“The Permanent Secretaries are doing the work of Ministers for the time being though, they are looking up to Ministers to also play their part but salaries are not delayed, work has not stopped and activities of the MDAs are going on.”

At the Ministry of Trade and Investment, the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Abdulkadir Musa, was in charge until his retirement last Tuesday.

Women Register to Vote for the First Time in History in Saudi Arabia

Women are registering to vote for the very first time in Saudi Arabia today in a long overdue move towards equality for the nation.

Voting registration for the December elections starts today and on August 30, they will even be allowed to register as candidates.

This is happening four years after the now deceased King Abdullah announced that women will be
granted equal voting rights and the right to run for office in the conservative Muslim country. Later in 2013, he issued a royal decree stating that the Consultative Council, a royally appointed body that advises the King, be at least 20 per cent women.


Women will be allowed to vote and stand in the elections this December, but the people only choose half of the people on local councils. The other half are chosen by the monarch. According to local media, 70 women are looking to run as candidates, while another 80 have registered as campaign managers.

But despite being a step in the right direction, Saudi Arabian women still have very few rights because of the guardianship system that exists.

Women are not allowed to obtain a passport, marry, travel or access higher education without approval from a male guardian. This can be a husband or a relative.
Women are also forbidden to wear clothes that show off their beauty or make-up, and are required to limit the time they spend with men they are not related to.

Saudi Arabia sent female athletes to the London Olympic Games for the first time in 2012 but hard-line clerics denounced them as 'prostitutes'.

My Brother E-Money Didn't Try To Use Skiibii For Money Ritual -- Kcee

The Limpopo Crooner Kcee has expressed disappointment that his brother and chairman of Five Star Music, E-Money is being dragged into the Skiibii death scandal.Speaking on Wazobia FM, Kcee said;

“I’m disappointed with people on social media who said that my brother, E Money, used Skiibii for money rituals. What gets me even angrier is that now that he did not die, they are saying his head was too strong for the juju and that is why immediately I came into the country I decided to use this medium to clarify issues.”

“I was on tour with my producer, Soso Soberekon in Norway when the purported rumor of Skiibii’s death broke. Somebody called Soso to confirm the news and Soso called his boy who confirmed that Skiibii col­lapsed and was rushed to the hospital but he did not know what exactly was happening but it’s like Skiibii was dead and so he told the caller that skiibii was actually dead.

“I later got in touch with my brother, E-Money, who said he had instructed that Skiibii be transferred to another hospital immediately. So the whole issue was misconstrued because of Soso and he has been placed on suspension by the management.”

Commenting, Skiibii said that he was hale and hearty. His words: 

“I’m alive and healthy. This is not the first time this is happening to me. It’s like a blackout which occurs anytime I’m over excited. It’s happened two times and the last time was when I was on a plane with another label mate. I thank God I’m okay.”

Too Bad! 2 Year Old Boy Shots His Dad, Killing Him!

A young father was found shot to death by his 2 year old son in an apartment outside Birmingham, Alabama, United States, on August 18.

According to AL.com, Divine Vaniah Chambliss, 31, was watching his son while the boy’s mother was at work.

At about 3.00 p.m., the mum arrived at the apartment where she lives with her son and the couple’s daughter, who was at school.

She found Chambliss unresponsive. The little boy is quoted to have told his shocked mum, “I hurt my dad.” They found the man in bed with a single gunshot wound to the head and pronounced him dead.

The coroner’s office hasn’t yet issued an official ruling confirming that the toddler accidentally murdered his dad but according to a police statement, that appears to be what happened.

“Detectives have considered every possible scenario in an attempt to determine who shot the victim,” said the statement, which was posted on Facebook on August 19.

“There is still no indication that an intruder or any third person was involved in this incident. Physical evidence has also helped us determine that the victim could not have shot himself,” continued the statement.

“All indications at this point still lead us to believe the child found the loaded handgun and accidentally shot his father.”

Chambliss carried a gun in a holster at all times, his family toldAL.com, because he worked as a security guard at his church. He always kept the safety on, they maintained.

When he lay down for a nap while watching his son, he apparently put the semiautomatic gun under a pillow, and they believe that the boy found it and began playing with it.

Help! I Am Receiving Death Threats - Igbo Corper Who Converted To Cries Out (Read His Open Letter)

Chukwuma Austin Dike, the Igbo corps member who shocked Nigerians by converting to Islam following President Muhammadu Buhari's entrance into power, has penned an open letter to Nigerians.

The Corp member known as Chukwuma Austin Dike, was serving as a Batch C corp member in Konshisha LGA Benue State when he made the conversion to fulfill his Buhari vow.

Chukwuma has however come out to claim he’s been getting a lot of death threats. He has decided to tell Nigerians why he converted. Read his open letter below:

Dear Nigerians, 

WHY I JOINED ISLAM 

My name is Chukwuma Austin Dike. My Islamic name is Mohammed Mustapha. I’m from Mbaitoli Local Government, in Imo State, a graduate of political science from University of Nigeria Nsukka and I am presently serving the nation Nigeria in Konshisha local government in Benue State. 

The truth is that I have always loved Islam as a kid in the 80’s in Dakata kano I played most times in the masjid (Mosque). I grew up loving the masjid not until my secondary school days when I left kano. To me is like a reunion but to those who saw the headlines, some said that I am dancing the macabre dance of religious cross carpeting, some said Buhari is my God but I say ALLAH IS MY GOD. 

I join Islam based on CONVICTION and I don’t care about anybody’s interpretation; one with God is in the majority. 

The vow: there is no controversy at all among those who knew me before May 29 except they decided to lie. I made the vow three times. Firstly, at wanunne camp in Benue state before some Muslim corpers in November 2014. Secondly, early December in my house before my family members and thirdly before the staff of the school I was teaching Government (my PPA) in February this year. Funny enough everybody thought I was joking.What was my vow: Some Muslim brothers during a political argument told me last year authoritatively that Allah has given Buhari victory, no matter how hard the then president tries he will not win. I was flabbergasted! Then I vowed if Buhari wins this forth coming election, I will believe that 

ALLAH IS THE GREATEST and I will convert to Islam and serve ALLAH as my God. The vow was made before God and man.Thanks to ALLAH that I kept my vow. On the issue of election and general politics Nigerians from the age of 18 and above, if u did not experience anything on the day of the presidential election and May 29 Handover, you are either immature or living a care free life. 

On my view on Muhammad Buhari today, I rather advise Him to retain the principal of federal character and totally reject the political theory of winner takes it all; it is not healthy for our modern democracy and the political culture of Nigeria. Corruption is a canker worm; it’s like a virus eating Nigeria from the inside it must be treated like Ebola. 

Having said this Mr President I solicit for general amnesty to all corrupt officers that will return his or her looted fund; because if amnesty can be granted to killing, it can also be granted to corruption. Furthermore, as you intensify your fight against corruption also include tribalism and religious intolerance.NYSC should not be scraped but the allawee should be increased and at least the sum of 200,000 naira should be given to each graduating NYSC member to start a small scale business. This measure to me will reduce unemployment, because already at the camp most corpers had skills acquisition training. May almighty ALLAH grant you Mr President the wisdom to rule Nigeria, by the special grace of ALLAH we shall meet in Aljanah. 

As a Muslim I have received a lot of death and excommunication threats but in all I thank Almighty Allah for honoring me with Islam, my life and destiny is in the hand of ALLAH. SALAM.

 Guinness World Records has formally recognized a 112-year-old Japanese as the world's oldest man.

Yasutaro Koide, who lives in the central Japanese City of Nagoya, received the formal designation on Friday as family and city dignitaries applauded.

Koide was born on March 13, 1903, and worked as a tailor when he was younger. He became the world's oldest man with the death of Sakari Momoi of Tokyo in July at age 112.

Koide says his secret to a long life is not to overdo, or drink or smoke. His favorite food is bread. Koide still can read the newspaper without glasses.

The world’s oldest person is Susannah Mushatt Jones of Brooklyn, New York, who celebrated her 116th birthday

 on Monday.

Masquerades Arrested For Mounting Road Blocks And Robbing Traders (Photo)

The Police in Nsukka, Enugu State, on Saturday arrested two masquerades in Ovoko community, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State for robbing a trader along the Nsukka-Obollo-Afor Road.

In the past few weeks, masquerades had continuously mounted road blocks in such areas as Eha-Alumona, Ovoko-Obollo-Afor, among several other public roads, inflicting heavy wounds on motorists and dispossessing them of their valuables.

A police officer in Nsukka who pleaded anonymity told DAILY POST on Saturday that the police moved into action when the victim, Mr. Chinonso Ezewaji reported the matter at Nsukka Police Area command.

He said when two of the masquerades were arrested, others ran way. According to him,

“when the police team reached Ovoko, along Nsukka–Obollor-Afor Road, where the masquerades were operating, two of the policemen in the bus pretended as if they wanted to give the two masquerades money; they stretched their hands to collect it and that was how we hand-cuffed them and others ran away.

“Eight masquerades have been on that road since morning tormenting road users; the two of them we arrested have denied involvement in robbing the trader, but they have given the names of the culprits. 

“When we searched one of the arrested masquerades, we saw Indian hemp in his pocket”.

When contacted, DSP Ebere Amarizu, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident, noting that the police has commenced investigations into the matter. 

Amarizu urged communities to regulate and monitor those who wear masquerades as some of them were hiding on it to harass, intimidate and rob innocent members of the public. 

“Police is not against any culture but community leaders must know the character of people they allow to wear masquerades in the name of culture. 

“A masquerade has no right to mount a road block on busy roads where motorists, motorcyclists and other road ply on daily basis. 

“The police has commenced investigations and must get to the root of this matter as issue of masquerades disturbing people has become a recurring decimal”, he said. 

Narrating his experience, the victim (Ezewaji), a trader, said he was on his way from Nsukka to Obollo-Afor when the masquerades in Ovoko stopped him, gave him the beating of his life, after which “they searched me and collected N57, 000 from my pockets”. 

Meanwhile, the two masquerades, who identified themselves as Kenchukwu Eze, a carpenter and Ejiofor Eze , brick-layer alleged that they were not part of the team that robbed the victim. They gave the name of the masquerade involved as Chima Mamah.

“We only collected N20, N100 and N500 from people; we didn’t participate in collecting the N57,000″, one of them claimed. 

However, kenechukwu Eze, while admitting that the police recovered Indiam Hemp from him, said “If police will release me, I will not wear masquerade or smoke Indian hemp again. It is the left-over of the one we smoked before coming out”, he said.

GEJ's APC Kinsman Slams Oyegun Over Buhari Comments

Richard Kpodo, the factional chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has slammed the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, over comments that he made recently.

Kpodo, according to Sahara Reporters, described Oyegun’s claims, that the political leaders from the state can only gain access to president Muhammadu Buhari through ex-governor Timipre Sylva, as ‘misplaced’.

Although president Buhari had clearly stated during his inaugural speech as Nigeria’s leader, that he is for everybody and nobody, the APC chieftain stated that Oyegun’s comment is a clear attempt to ensure that Bayelsans are politically enslaved by Sylva and that it is an indication that the change being advocated by the ruling party is not a certainty.

The statement issued by Kpodo in Yenogoa on Friday read: “How can the National Chairman be praising Sylva and saying he is the only access to the President?

“How can he say that it is only through Judas that we are to see Jesus Christ? How can he say that it is only through a man with corruption charges hanging over him that we are to see the symbol of anti-corruption?”

“To our surprise the National Chairman came to Yenagoa and accepted the defectors. What are the political qualifications of the decampees? What is their electoral values? If they are coming into the party to avoid prosecution, would that not go against the posture of the President? We are warning that if any implosion occurred in the APC, Sylva and others should be held responsible.”

Recall that the former governor was also alleged to be planning to rig the forthcoming election in the state.
