Chinese club dangles £800,000-a-week on Dele Alli, others

Sturridge, Kane, Barkley Also Targeted

Barely 24 hours after Super Eagles team captain and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, moved to a Chinese Club, Tianjin TEDA, on a £140,000-a-week deal, the Chinese Super League is ready to offer £800,000-a-week to top English talent in the Premier League with Dele Alli and Harry Kane top of the list.

Mikel’s former teammate at Chelsea, Oscar, 25, had already left Stamford Bridge to sign for Shanghai SIPG, where he is under the management of another ex-Chelsea man, Andre Villas-Boas. Mikel, 29, is on a three year deal.

Former West Ham striker, Carlos Tevez, 32, joined Shanghai Shenhua from Boca Juniors last week in a deal worth £600,000 a week.

In the latest move, the Chinese Super League are prepared to pay a top England footballer a staggering £800,000 a week to join their revolution.

Many of the high-profile players who have already signed up are in the latter stages of their careers, but now the mega-rich league wants an England player in his prime.

As a result, the Chinese are targeting someone younger, with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Ross Barkley and Daniel Sturridge among those discussed.

Representatives from the CSL have contacted intermediaries with a view to executing their plan.
“Everton’s Ross Barkley is also a leading target despite not being in form recently”

The Chinese believe luring a major English talent will add credibility to the competition.

Wayne Rooney and John Terry, both in their 30s, remain targets for Chinese clubs but securing one of England’s finest emerging stars is now the priority.

Whether a player who fits that profile is prepared to give up Premier League and European football to play in China remains to be seen.

Buhari doesn't feed our children, I feed them with my money – Aisha Buhari

That controversial report that Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, abused privileges at Nigerian High Commission in London is still generating serious ripples.

Aisha has come out to state that she feeds her children with her personal money.

According to Mrs Buhari, she had not been accorded the official privileges given to her predecessors as the Fist Lady of the country.

Her claims, contained in a rejoinder by her media aide, Adebisi Ajayi on Friday were consequent upon accusation of abuse of privileges leveled against her by Sahara Reporters, an online media, apparently on her trip to the United Kingdom recently.

The rejoinder read thus:
“The attention of the Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari has been drawn to a report in Sahara Reporters where, she was amongst other things accused of abuse of privileges at Nigerian High Commission in London.

“It is not in her interest to join issues with anyone or defend others mentioned in the report, it is however paramount to put the record in proper perspectives as its concern her trips to UK vis-à-vis the Nigerian High Commission in London.

“Aisha Buhari has never traveled to London with a large entourage as was carried in the report. The highest number of people on a trip involves her three kids, ADC, and her personal physician.

“The Nigerian Commission in London has never offered any favor either monetarily or materially to her or her so called entourage on any of her trips to London.

“The state house in Abuja caters for her meal when necessary, and other healthy food or variety needed by her children are her personal responsibility.

“It is on record that the Nigerian Commission in London does not receive Aisha Buhari at the airport with any official distinction or privileges as was accorded other first ladies before her.

“Her drivers are privately arranged without any recourse to the embassy for staff.

“She has never complained or raised dust about any of these acts by the High Commission because of the understanding, as clearly spelt out and practiced by her husband, that public office must be separated from the private lives of the occupants.

“She has always been an advocate of good governance where officials of government are responsive and appealing to their constituents, it therefore baffles the imagination that one could believe she would corroborate with any government official however highly placed either at home or abroad to shortchange the Nigerian people.

“These records are not hidden for a non-mischievous reporter who really intends to inform the people and not to disparage the family of the President just to add weight to a report.

“Aisha Buhari would have ignored this, like all of such baseless accusations, but the angle to which the report was presented has a corruption and abuse of privileges connotation which negates the fundamental principle upon which this administration thrives.

“Consequently, Sahara reporter or any of the embassy staff is hereby challenged to provide any concrete evidence either in hard or soft copy to contradict Aisha’s Buhari’s position as it concerns her trips to London."

I and Trump are on the same team, but Vladimir Putin is not on our team' - Obama

U.S President Barack Obama has told the American public that Russia's Vladmir Putin shouldn't be trusted due to the fact he reportedly meddled in the U.S presidential elections, reminding Republicans who support or trust Putin to be careful as he and Putin aren't on the same team.

Obama's statements come after the U.S Intelligence community released documents, revealing that Putin directly ordered the influence of the U.S presidntial elections to favor Trump.
"What is true is that the Russians intended to meddle and they meddled," Obama told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an interview that aired Friday. "One of the things I am concerned about is the degree to which we've seen a lot of commentary lately where there are Republicans or pundits or cable commentators who seem to have more confidence in Vladimir Putin than fellow Americans because those fellow Americans are Democrats."
"That cannot be," Obama insisted.

When asked if he was referring to Trump, Obama said;
"Well, what I will say is that -- and I said that after the election -- we have to remind ourselves that we're on the same team," Obama said. "Vladimir Putin is not on our team.
Donald Trump has been briefed by Intelligence officials of the report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, but has publicly stated that Putin had no influence in the decision of Americans to vote him as the next president.

Trump has vowed that as President, within 90 days of his inauguration he would appoint a team to generate a cyber-security plan against future cyber attacks.

Niger Delta Avengers ready to fight region’s enemies

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Friday asked its fighters to prepare to hit the ‘enemy’ in the oil-rich Niger Delta region, claiming that the Nigerian government was not ready for sincere negotiations.

“All fighters and commands are hereby placed on high readiness in your webs of operations to hit and knock the enemy very hard,” said Avengers spokesman Mudoch Agbinibo in a statement posted on the group’s website. “That is the way to discuss with a deaf, when he cannot understand your soft massage.”

NDA announced a ceasefire on August 19, 2016, after crippling Nigeria’s oil production. But the ceasefire was ended on September 23 with an attack on Bonny pipeline in Rivers State, which Agbinibo then described as “a wake-up call”, expressing frustration with the negotiations the militants have been holding with authorities.

It launched another attack on Nembe Creek Trunk Line pipeline in Bayelsa State on November 15 before going quiet until Friday.

The group said its cessation of aggression was to allow for dialogue. But it claimed Nigeria had spurned the chance to ensure a peaceful resolution of the protracted crisis in the region.

“Since the declaration of cessation of hostilities in the region by all fighters and affiliates, it has been evidently clear that the Nigerian state is not ready for any form of dialogue and negotiation with our people to addressing the issues sustaining the unending sufferings and deprivation of the people of the Niger Delta,” Agbinibo said.

It declared the start of “Operations Walls of Jericho and Hurricane Joshua” simultaneously to reclaim our motherland and dislodge all cleavages the Nigerian Ruling oligarchy has foisted on the region.”

Avengers statement came a day after Niger Delta leaders under the umbrella of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) warned the presidency to be concerned about the growing impatience in Nigeria’s crude oil belt as a result of the delay in the proposed dialogue between government and regional stakeholders.

Targeting oil giants including Shell, Exxon and Chevron, it had hammered the Nigerian economy with months of attacks on vital oil and gas infrastructure, reducing output by a third at a time when global prices are already punishingly low.

The NDA is seeking a fairer distribution of the oil revenues that make up 70 percent of state’s income and has vowed to fight for development in the Delta where many people remain desperately poor despite the huge wealth of local natural resources.

Adeboye retires from RCCG as general overseer

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday appointed a new General Overseer (GO) for the church in Nigeria as he retires, ahead of his 75th birthday on 2 March.

The new general overseer Ois Pastor Joshua Obayemi. However, Adeboye is expected to remain as the general overseer of the Church worldwide.

His resignation, according to a source, was informed by a new legal requirement guiding the operations of registered churches, mosques and CSOs in the country. Founders of such organisations, the source said, now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organisations. In retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.

Adeboye was born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun State.

Pastor Adeboye had his B.Sc. in Mathematics at University of Nigeria Nsukka, and subsequently got his PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Lagos, and worked as a lecturer in Mathematics at the universities of Lagos and Ilorin, before going into full time priesthood in 1984.

After joining the RCCG in 1973, he began working to translate the sermons of its then Pastor and founder, Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, from Yoruba into English.

In 1981, Adeboye was appointed General Overseer of the church. He took over from Papa Akindayomi, who had died the previous year. For three years he performed the role part-time, still lecturing at Ilorin.

He finally gave up his university position to preach full-time.

The church, which was not well known prior to Adeboye’s ascendance has grown phenomenally, to become Nigeria’s biggest, with branches globally in about 190 countries, including more than 14,000 in Nigeria.

Adeboye has stated that his aim is to put a church within five minutes of every person on Earth. He married Adenike, now 68 in 1967. She was born on 13th July 1948.

NAN further reports that Obayemi was appointed the new GO at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving at Shimawa, in Ogun State.

The newly appointed GO was the former Special Assistant to the General Overseer (SATGO) on Finance.

Adeboye also appointed Pastor Johnson Odesola, who was the Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, as the church Secretary.

Ronaldo celebrates as record-equalling Madrid cruise

Cristiano Ronaldo paraded his fourth Ballon d’Or and powered home his first goal of 2017 as Real Madrid equalled Barcelona’s Spanish record 39-game unbeaten run with a 5-0 demolition of lowly Granada on Saturday.

The Portuguese was honoured by previous Ballon d’Or winners to have played for Madrid including Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Michael Owen and his coach Zinedine Zidane before kick-off.

And Real’s relentless run stretching back to April last year continued once the action got underway as they scored four in the opening half-hour.

Isco and Karim Benzema slotted home from close range before Ronaldo, who had been rested for Real’s 3-0 Copa del Rey win over Sevilla in midweek, bulleted home a header from Marcelo’s cross.

Another simple finish from Isco made it four before the break and Casemiro turned home James Rodriguez’s free-kick for the fifth after half-time.

Defeat leaves Granada firmly rooted in the relegation zone with just nine points from 17 games.

At the top, Barca can close back to within three points of the leaders with victory at Villarreal on Sunday.

“There is no limit, but on the other hand we have to do everything possible to make sure it lasts,” Zidane said of his side’s stunning form.

Zidane insisted on Friday that he is keen to keep Ronaldo fresh with Real facing a heavily congested fixture list between now and the end of the season.

The Frenchman made four changes from the side that saw off Sevilla with ease in midweek with Keylor Navas returning in goal and all of Ronaldo, Benzema and Isco coming in up front.

Once again Zidane was vindicated as all three of the frontline scored in a rapid start.

The hosts got a break for the opener as Isco could have been penalised for a trip on Sergi Samper before he exchanged passes with Benzema and slotted low past Guillermo Ochoa.

Madrid were also fortunate for the second as Benzema appeared offside when he prodded into an empty net after Ochoa tamely parried Luka Modric’s shot into his path.

Real captain for the day Marcelo marked the 10-year anniversary since his debut with a pinpoint cross from which Ronaldo powered home his 17th goal of the season.

And with the Granada defence once again pulled apart by Madrid’s movement, Modric’s low cross found an unmarked Isco for a simple finish at the back post for his second of the afternoon.

“The matches are prepared in a certain way depending on whether we have two, three or four days, but the idea is always to do our best, be physically ready and concentrated,” added Zidane.

“If we are ready and concentrated we can do great things.”

Madrid understandably eased off in the second half with the possibility of another 19 games to come in the next two months as Toni Kroos, Isco and Marcelo were replaced to hand them some extra rest.

However, the European champions did net a fifth just before the hour mark when Casemiro was left unmarked to bundle home substitute James Rodriguez’s free-kick at the back post.

Mikel’s emotional farewell message to Chelsea fans Will Make you Cry

It was honour to play for Chelsea, but it’s time to seek new challenge
Super Eagles team captain and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel bided his fans, teammates and officials at the Stamford Bridge an emotional farewell yesterday, as he settles down for business with his new club, Tianjin TEDA FC, in the Chinese Super League.

The 29-year-old Nigerian has played 372 times for Chelsea since joining in 2006, but has not featured this season. In an open letter to his Chelsea family, published by Dailymail.co.uk, Mikel wrote:

“To play in the Premier League, the best league in the world, is every professional player’s ambition. But to play for Chelsea, to become part of the Chelsea family, to work with some of the best managers and players in the world, has truly been an honour.

Every achievement I have been part of in my time at Chelsea holds a special memory: my first goal, against Macclesfield in 2007 (even though there were only five more after that!). The nail-biting end of the 2010 season – securing the title on the last day, scoring a record 103 goals in the process, and winning the FA Cup a week later. Didier’s extra time winner against Manchester United in the 2007 FA Cup Final. Beating two of our biggest London rivals in League Cup finals. Winning the Europa League in Amsterdam, with one of the last kicks of the game.

Then there was Munich. We were desperate to make up for the disappointment of the 2008 final, but trailing with two minutes to go, against Bayern, in their own stadium, it seemed that once more luck was against us. But that night, with lions on our chest and the fans behind us, we fought. Up popped Didier, the rest is history, and to date we’re still proudly the only team in London with a European Cup.

“None of this would have been possible without the wider club’s support. To Mr. Abramovich, the club’s staff, coaches, physios, and to the managers I played under at Chelsea, I want to say thank you.

“But my biggest thanks must go to the Blues fans. You brought me into the Chelsea family, you sung my name, and were there with us every step of the way. Thanks to your support, on nights like in Munich, you made the impossible possible.

“As you will know, I haven’t featured as much this season as I would have liked, and at 29 I still have many years in the game ahead of me. With this in mind, I feel now is the time to seek a new challenge. I’m delighted to be joining Tianjin TEDA in China, at a time that the Chinese Super League is really taking off, and I look forward to helping Tianjin TEDA continue to grow both on and off the pitch in the next few years.

To everyone at Chelsea – goodbye, and thank you. You will always be part of who I am, and I wish you the best of luck. I could not be happier to be saying goodbye with the club back where it belongs – top of the league.Keep the Blue flag flying high!  Mikel John Obi.

"If that woman you want to be with is messing around, it's because you aren't her priority"- Tonto Dike

Nollywood actress took to Instagram to share her thoughts on love, friendship, self worth, career, and relationship. Read her powerful message, it sends a clear message that you should value yourself. Read it after the cut...

Most people are pretty obvious with their actions.
I rarely get my hopes up, not because I am a pessimist but because I am a realist.
Actions prove why words mean nothing, from relationships to work, from work to parties.
Intentions that aren't acted upon are just ideas, and ideas without action are just thoughts.
So if that woman you want to be with is messing around, it is because you aren't her priority.
If that guy doesn't call you for two weeks, he doesn't like you as much as you like him.
If that important meeting keeps on getting rescheduled, it means it is not that important to the other party.
If the government fail the people they are supposed to be representing time and time again, it means that they aren't really representing you, or they just aren't bothered.
The people who always text and call to ask how you are, these are the people who care.
The people who email you back straight away and the people who do things to help. These are the people you should invest your time in.
Remember your happiness starts with you.
Not with your relationship.
Not with your friends.
Not with your job.
But with you.
Things outside of you won't fix problems on the inside.
Love yourself properly and people will love you.
Don't echasee after people/Things who are running away, if it is meant to be it will be.
If not, there are plenty more fish in the sea x
