Andreas Pereira ready to be a part of the United squad

Andreas Pereira is all set to become a key member of the Manchester United squad for 2017-18.
The 21 year old Belgium-born Brazilian spent the last year on a productive loan at Granada in La Liga, where he earned some valuable playing time.
But this year, Pereira is all set to feature regularly for United, with the Red Devils firmly back in the prestigious Champions League. His encouraging performances in pre-season lend more proof to these claims.

Performances

Although he has featured in previous pre-season tours for United, Pereira seemed to have a clearly defined squad role while featuring across all seven games this time around. Playing well against the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona will only have given him more confidence in his abilities. Pereira’s versatility certainly gives Jose Mourinho food for thought as he can feature all across the midfield and even on the wings.

Position

Going by the team setup in the aforementioned fixtures, the manager sees Pereira as an option in a midfield three in a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2. He featured in central midfield sparingly for Granada but he seems to have the required calmness in possession and technical skill to excel there. Add to it his exceptional set-piece ability (as demonstrated while assisting Romelu Lukaku’s goal against Valerenga) and Pereira has all the tools to become a valuable asset this season.

He can provide valuable depth for the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic and has already been given the number 15. Andreas can even be considered to be provide depth to the wings, competing with the likes of Martial and Mkhitaryan. Here’s to hoping he can become a future Manchester United star, which will be even sweeter given that he is one from the famed academy.
