CONTE WARY THAT CHELSEA COULD SACK HIM

Antonio Conte has admitted that he is wary that Chelsea could sack him, and wants to avoid suffering the same fate as his predecessors, report

On the back of winning the 2014/15 Premier League title, Jose Mourinho fast found himself battling to keep Chelsea out of the relegation zone, and was sacked by the Blues for the second time in his managerial career.

Fast forward a year, and Claudio Ranieri endured similar struggles with Leicester. It was he who put the final nail in Mourinho’s coffin with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea. Little did he know that he would be given the boot 15 months later.

Conte appears to be, understandably, cautious. The Sun quote the Italian, who reveals that he is well aware that he could face the sack if Chelsea fall short next term:

“Two coaches have been sacked from Chelsea and Leicester after winning the league and I want to avoid this and the players want to avoid the bad season they had with Mourinho.”

From a Chelsea perspective, we’re all hoping that Conte sticks around long-term. At the time of writing, he’s arguably the best manager in the world.
