Manchester United Injury Update: Star Player To Miss Out For Few Weeks – Will Not Play Against CSKA Moscow

Jose Mourinho has confessed that it will take ‘a few weeks’ for Paul Pogba to recover from his muscular injury he suffered in Manchester United’s Champions League opener against FC Basel.

The reports of the scan are due and the club will be hoping to get a good news, as they have the likes of Everton, Southampton and CSKA Moscow lined up within ten days (17-27 September). Manchester United were up against FC Basel in their Champions League opener and Mourinho decided to give Pogba the captain’s armband. Quite obviously, a lot was expected from the Frenchman, but his tenure was cut short after what seemed to have been a hamstring pull.

Pogba could only manage 19 minutes on the field and was eventually taken off. Marouane Fellaini was thrown on to the field and it only took the Belgian less than 20 minutes to give his side a lead. This was followed by Romelu Lukaku scoring the second some minutes after the break and Rashford adding further misery to Basel’s fate. In the post match conference, Mourinho confirmed that Pogba will undergo scans on Wednesday and then the update will be provided in Friday’s news conference ahead of our game with Everton.

“I don’t know (what the severity is). I just know from experience it’s a muscular injury.

“In my experience, muscular injury stops you from playing for a few weeks, I think. It looks for me too (like a hamstring injury) but I haven’t spoken yet to the medical department.

“Squads are for this, squads are for injuries, squads are for suspensions. We don’t cry with injuries. So if no Paul for Sunday, we have (Ander) Herrera, we have (Michael) Carrick, we have Fellaini and
we have (Nemanja) Matic.”

Since the turn of the season, Pogba has been in scintillating form and has already bagged 2 goals and 2 assists. He is just 3 goals and 2 assists short of what he managed during the entirety of last season. A little bit of credit for his form though, should be relinquished to the arrival of Nemanja Matic. The Serbian’s ability to shield his back-line has allowed Pogba to enjoy a free role in the attacking third and the team’s results are the perfect specimen of it.

Everton, on their part, are struggling a bit (the last they won a match was back on August 18), but you never know what Premier League brings at the end of day, and United learned that fact the hard way the last time they played a league game; a 2-2 draw against Stoke.
