Forget Lemar: Man United to agree £32m deal for Arsenal prime target

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to add a left-winger to his options at Old Trafford this summer

He has already bolstered his squad with the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic, and signing a left wide-man remain his top priority as he prepares to round up his transfer activities this window.

The Portuguese boss had pursued the signature of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic all summer, only for it to hit the rock. And Thomas Lemar has also been on his transfer list but Monaco’s £50 million valuation of the player put Mourinho off, with nothing coming out of it too.

However, as per the latest reports in the media, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has shifted his attention to German midfielder Julian Draxler. And according to the Daily Star, Man United could land the 23-year-old for a surprising £32 million from PSG, giving the outrageous amount now demanded for by clubs for their top players.

The German international joined the French giants from Wolfsburg only eight months ago but has been unexpectedly put on the transfer market and at a price less than what they bought him this January.

Draxler has been impressive since joining the Ligue 1 club, scoring four league goals but the world-record signing of Neymar deem him surplus to requirement at the club. Though he won the best player award at the Confederation Cup won by Germany this summer, his stats during his spell in Germany suggest otherwise and question his level of consistency.

While he is not really in the category of the pacey winger Mourinho had wanted, he would represent a good bargain at that price but Arsenal and Liverpool have been credited with interest for the star.
