The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has concluded plans to commence the probe of the former President Goodluck Jonathan with investigations into the financial transactions of his ministers and aides. Chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, had already directed that all petitions against former public officers at the federal level should be forwarded to him to be acted upon.
Findings showed that former ministers, special advisers, heads of parastatals and those of other Federal Government agencies would be invited for interrogation by the EFCC in few weeks from now.
Our correspondents learnt that the anti-graft agency would focus on those whose establishments attracted huge allocations from the Federal Government when Jonathan was in power.
Such ministries and agencies, it was learnt, included defence, petroleum resources and power.
Three top sources in the anti-graft agency confided in one of our correspondents that Lamorde was “determined to expose any corrupt act during the administration of the former President.”
One of the sourcesnexplained that anti-graft operatives had yet to arrest any of the former ministers, special advisers and heads of agencies who served under the former President.
The source said, “I am not aware of anybody who has been summoned or interrogated by the commission. Those to be interrogated would be determined by the gravity of the allegations against them as contained in the petitions.
“What happened last week was that a directive was issued to move all petitions against public office holders under the former President to the office of the Chairman.
“The files will be studied and assigned to units to handle the investigations. It is based on the petitions that people will be summoned.
“Most likely next week, action would be taken on those petitions…”
But the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwajaren, denied knowledge of such a directive when one of our correspondents contacted him on the telephone on Monday.
“I am not aware of the directive you are talking about. It is not to my knowledge,” the agency’s spokesman

Oritsefemi Shares Throwback Photos Of Himself And His Babymama
Before he came to fame and won the Best Street-Hop Artiste at the 2014 Headies Award, singer Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele (known by his stage name Oritse Femi) lived in a rundown apartment in the heart of Ajegunle.
But after Junglist failed in 2006, he went solo, releasing a few singles, including his rewrite of Fela’s Double Wahala.
By 2014, Oritse Femi was on his way to becoming a household name.
for reasons we don’t yet know, the Delta State singer took to his page to share memories of his poor beginnings. Very heartrending, is this rust zinc and rotting wood apartment he called his first home.
Read him:
“Lets start this week with my early beginnings. this is my first rented apartment ‘ in the ghetto’ Ajegunle to be precise. A wood crib, N15k per annum. This was my first achievement in life.”
He also shared the photo of the mother of his child:
“My smile is priceless,” he wrote. “This is my baby mama, Pepe’s mom. You know how real it is back then when you take a lady to the street studio to take a picture. When men were boys. @wizkidayo @davidoofficial take note.”
Weeks ago, in collaboration with “Feed the child Nigeria” initiative, he hit the streets of Lagos to give out groceries and food stuffs, and also spend time with children from low income communities

Tragedy: Three Year Old Boy Falls Into Well While Playing With His Friends (Photo)
Emmanuel Samuel,3 years of age, died on Sunday after he fell inside a well in front of a building on Hassan Sule Street, Ita Oluwo, in Ikorodu, Lagos. The toddler who was playing with his older brother, Timileyin Samuel, and some of their friends around 3pm in the area when the deceased accidentally fell into the well.
It was learnt that residents and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, who came to the area after receiving the distress call, had difficulties rescuing the victim due to the depth of the well.
It was gathered that a member of the Oodua People’s Congress later summoned up courage and went down the well to rescue the boy at about 7pm.
He brought out the boy dead.
It was learnt that the well was dug about eight years ago by the landlord of the building but was abandoned when it did not produce water.
Some youths were said to have been angered by the fact that the landlord had left the well open for so long. So, they reportedly stormed the residence and broke some window glasses.
The landlord, Bamidele Ogunwole, was said to have been arrested on Monday after the incident was reported at the Ogijo Police Division, Ogun State.
Emmanuel’s mother, Kikelolomo, who spoke in tears, described the deceased as her “everything.” She said,
“He had brothers and sisters, but he was my everything. He was very intelligent and smart. It was his brother that rushed to tell me he had drowned.”
His father, Sergeant Abu Samuel, said the most painful part was the fact that the landlord buried his child without his consent.
“I was on duty when I was called that my son had drowned only to come back home and be told he was dead. To add insult to injury, that man (the landlord) buried my child somewhere in Agodo without my consent,” he said.
Residents described Emmanuel’s death as avoidable. One of them, who identified herself only as Esther, said,
“It is very easy for anybody to get trapped in a well that is left open like this. One of the man’s tenants told me that they had complained several times to the landlord, but he ignored them.”
The lawyer for the family, P.O. Idogun, accused the police of “foot-dragging,” adding that no relative of the suspect had shown up at the police station. The Chairman of the community development association, Alara Ogodo, blamed the suspect for burying the child without the approval of his family.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the landlord had presented himself to the police. He said, “He is in our custody. We will do something about the case.”

Hawaii Government approves Legal marijuana dispensaries
This is indeed a mind blowing move by the Hawaii government. I know this will interest many Indian hemp lovers.
It’s been 15 years since Hawaii legalized medical marijuana, but now the island state finally plans to roll out dispensaries.
Hawaiian Gov. David Ige signed a bill on Tuesday that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to legally operate.
Ige also signed an accompanying bill banning discrimination against medical marijuana patients.
“The bill sets a timeline,” said Ige in a statement. “We will make a good-faith effort to create a fair process that will help the people most in need.”
The state will license eight dispensaries that can begin opening its doors to patients by November 2016, according to the state’s Department of Health.
“I think there’s growing recognition among lawmakers that this is just common sense,” said Paul Armentan, deputy director of the NORML. “If we can agree that cannabis is therapeutic for patients, it’s only logical that we agree that it’s regulated so that patients can readily access it on a secure and safe environment.”

One dog enthusiast is so devoted to her pets that she has spent £60,000 pampering them and even throwing a huge wedding ceremony for two of them.
Emmie Stevens, 27, from Croydon, South London, is obsessed with dressing up her pets and even calls them her children. Over the past seven years she has spent thousands of pounds on a walk in wardrobe, buggies; dog shows, grooming parlours, beauty products, diamante collars and food and vet bills for her twelve dogs.
But last week she took her hobby a step further by getting two of her canines to tie the knot, which included outfits for the whole pack, a reception and even a first dance.
Emmie, a self-employed dog groomer said: ‘I love dressing up my dogs and pampering them, that’s why I decided to perform a doggy wedding. Two of my dogs, Staffordshire bull terrier Bailey, and shih-tzu Coco, fell in love at first sight and have been inseparable since. I performed the ceremony for them, they said their doggy vows and we used a ring for Coco it was a fantastic day. They were dressed in the full attire, accompanied by their best men and bridesmaids.
‘Afterwards they went to their reception where they were greeted by 30 poochy pals and enjoyed their buffet banquet, wedding cake and first dance,’ she said.
Emmie, according to Daily Mail, UK, says she thinks nothing of the extravagance because her dogs are the most important thing in her life.
“I know people think I’m mad but my dogs are like my children, I call them my fur babies and I would do anything for them.”

Davido Reacts To Reports That NDLEA Is After Him Over Fans MI Video
Nigerian music star, Davido whose recent track featuring American rapper Meek Mill caught the attention of the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency has said in a new interview that he has not been invited by the agency to answer any question.
And that if anyone had doubts as to what he was trying to promote in the video, it definitely was not substance abuse but African culture through its rich cuisines like pounded yam and vegetable soup.
In an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats after reports went viral that the NDLEA had set up a panel to probe Davido, the pop star through his manager, Kamal Ajiboye, said:
“The NDLEA has not got in touch with us. We heard about the news on the pages of newspapers. They have neither called nor invited us over. People just pictured the video in a negative way.
When we wrote the script for the video, it was not to portray Davido as a drug trafficker. If they watch the video till the end, they would notice that we were selling African lifestyle through our food. That was our idea of the video. If you watch it to the end, you would see him eating pounded yam and vegetable soup.
When we learnt that people thought Davido was using the video to encourage drug usage, we were very shocked. We hope that when people watch it to the end, they would get the message. Davido is baffled that he is under investigation by the NDLEA but what would he do when they have not made any contact with us? We would keep doing our business as usual. Not even the police have placed a call to us, not to talk of the NDLEA before people would begin to say that we are using money to influence the situation. They have to take a step first.
As of Wednesday when Davido was travelling to Durban, we were hoping that the NDLEA would accost us at the airport so that we could sort this issue out, but there was nobody there,” he said.
South African Government Has Finally Returned Seized Cash For Arms Purchase
Legal and diplomatic processes initiated by the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), have ensured that cash seized by the South African government during the cash for arms saga last year have been fully recovered by Nigeria, it has been gathered.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was forced to resort to the alternative market to obtain arms when western powers blocked every access to the formal arms market but the cash were seized both at the airport and in the bank.
